WATERWAYS:
I've seen the worst and the "Best". This is not really a creek, but Acid Mine Drainage (AMD) at the infamous Iron Mountain Mines near Redding Ca. It's just flowing out of an old mine shaft. The owner actually wanted to hire me to "restore" that mountain. No thanks Ted Arman.
PERFECT HEALTHY WATERWAY:
Now, that's a tough question. What constitutes a "healthy" waterway. Benthic structure? Aquatic invertebrate community? Water quality?
Blog subject for the future.

CALF CREEK FALLS, UTAH:
It's a great 3 mile hike to the falls in Anastazi country. The sandy trail follows Lower Calf Creek. We caught cutthroat and brown trout below the falls.
Upper Sacramento River near Dunsmuir, CA. It's a beautiful time of year on the Upper Sac.
Beautiful canyon. Note the salmon in the bottom of the image. The Spring-run Chinook salmon stay in these pools from late Spring until September/ October when they spawn in nearby riffles. The site and the salmon are protected.
The Spring-run salmon in Butte Creek need help. I will be blogging about this issue in the near future.
